"Somebody Help Me" by Full Blown Rose

I'm being haunted by a whisper
A chill comes over me
I've been trapped inside this moment
I'm not a victim
I'm not a freak

Free me before I slip away
Heal me
Wake me from this day
Can somebody help me?

I've seen the face of affliction of my reality
I'm being tortured by the future of things that are yet to be
I'm being haunted by a vision
It's like the moment never comes
I feel the burden of confusion
Always searching
On the run

Free me before I slip away
Heal me
Wake me from this day
Can somebody help me?

Somebody help me?

Now I'm not a hero
No
But the weight of the world's on my soul
These images burn in my eyes
They're burning me up inside

Free me before I slip away
Heal me
Wake me from this day
Can somebody help me?

Free me before I slip away
Heal me
Wake me from this day
Can somebody help me?

Somebody help me?
Somebody help me?

Kenshin's perspective before he meets Tomoe.

He is being haunted by the spite that made Kiyosato injure his face. But Kiyosato is only one of many, just that he becomes the incarnation of Kenshin's self-hate. He knows that he himself is not the victim and that he can essentially blame his situation on himself.

The things that are yet to be are what he has to go on and on in doing as a hitokiri. He is confused because he's in fact doing this work to help others, but feels he only brings sorrow upon so many as well. He is searching for a better answer, but cannot find one.
He knows he's not a hero, but the burden on his soul is that he feels there is no one doing something against the injustice in this world, and therefore he feels he has to be one of those changing the situation. Both these things - the world as it is now, and his current role in it, are burning him up inside, and as he doesn't know any alternative or how to solve this struggle by himself, he is constantly calling out for someone to help him, until Tomoe takes on the task. He is still a child, someone who cannot bear the responsibility of his doings, and like a child, he needs someone to take care of him.
