AYANAMI REI

Watsuki Nobuhiro, the creator of RK, is a big Shin Seiki Evangelion fan. He had already modeled other characters in RK off persons in SSE before he created Tomoe. He wanted her to be a "cold beauty", and after he had started designing, he realized that was exactly what Ayanami Rei of SSE was like, and that's why it is so easy to find many similar or alike looks and personality traits in those two.

IINUMA TOMOE

I present you Miyazawa Rie as the character Iinuma Tomoe from the 2002 movie Tasogare Seibei. It is set shortly before Meiji Restoration. She even has a purple umbrella.

KASHIMA YUKI

Tomoe, whose name and fate is tied to snow, has not only these similarities to the protagonist of the manga and 1973 movie Shurayukihime. Kashima Yuki (portrayed by Kaji Meiko), the main character, is born in prison by a woman who killed one of the gang members who had raped her, and is then trained to avenge her mother. She is represented by snow, as well as out for revenge like Tomoe, but, opposite to Tomoe, in an active and violent way.
Look at her white kimono and blue-purple extras. The story is also set during Meiji Restoration.
The film version was the main inspiration for the part set in Japan in Kill Bill Vol. 1.
